Offering Chiropractic and Neuro Emotional Technique at The Sanctuary

by Lawrence Bakur

My name is Lawrence Bakur and I will be joining The Sanctuary Healing Team during January and February 2014.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up with a great love of music and nature. I sang in some excellent bands (rock and also bluegrass) and had an organic garden that was featured in a newspaper because I was able to grow large banana trees in New Jersey. I graduated with a Anthropology from Eastern Oregon University, where my focus was Native American Studies, and went on to receive my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1976. Upon graduation I was hired to work in a chiropractic office in a small town in Louisiana and it was there that I began to gain an understanding of the secrets to how the body works and the deeper, more spiritual causes of illness.

Eventually I started my own practice in both New Jersey and New York where I offered many classes and seminars in order to assist people in taking more personal responsibility for their own health and well-being. But alas, I never did care for a cold climate so after 24 years of practice in the Northeast I moved to San Diego, California to start all over again and had a wonderful experience being of service to the people in that beautiful city and making countless new friends. But all the while a compulsion was building in me to have a look at Mexico and to make a long story short, I finally moved here in 2012 to offer my work and my music to the people of this amazing country.

I was initially led to be a chiropractor because so many of my experiences as a youth emphasized the healing power of touch and the energetic transformation that can take place between people when the laws of healing are engaged. And when I was in undergraduate college I developed some physical pains and problems that did not respond to traditional medical care. My girlfriend of the time, and her mother, persuaded me to see their chiropractor (which I was brought up to believe was synonymous with "quack") and sure enough, a huge shift in my health happened almost immediately. The chiropractor also suggested that a career in this field might well suit me and sure enough, two years later a series of synchronistic events landed me in chiropractic college.

In the early days of my career I focused on the alignment of the physical body but very quickly moved on to a greater appreciation of the more fundamental changes that can occur through "energy work" with the spirit body. However, after a number of years, that level of interest was superseded by the understanding that the emotional condition of the soul is preeminent in determining a person's state of health in every way possible. This led me into the study and practice of Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), a simple yet magical process developed by Dr. Scott Walker of Encinitas, California that can uncover the emotional components that are causing not only physical pain and illness but obstacles to a person's direction and purpose in life.

I have found, over the years, that when a physical problem does not respond to a physical treatment, there is invariably an emotional basis to it and NET can quite often be highly effective in releasing the underlying emotions. I love to offer this to people because for many, it can take them to a deeper level of healing.

I do not charge a fee for my services of chiropractic and NET and prefer to engage in God's law of Giving and Receiving (that old Biblical saying, "as we give, so shall we receive,"... it's true!) in which people have the opportunity to offer donations on the basis of their free will and open-heartedness and so participate in their own healing process. And my personal promise to you in this regard is to provide you with my own genuine and open-hearted service, support and assistance. I welcome your interest.
