Volunteer blog – first week at the Sanctuary from Christian

(Puerto Escondido)

Well I can't believe that we finally made it. After almost overstaying our US visa, a cancelled flight to Mexico City due to a volcano ash cloud, finding ourselves in Costa Rica, then a week of bus rides with a bit of sightseeing from Costa Rica to Puerto Escondido we finally arrived!

We were immediately made to feel welcome by the entire Sanctuary family, and then spent the next few days settling in. What a magic place this is; large spacious 3 story villa with room for up to 15 people at any one time, large kitchen perfect for the creation for healthy nutritious foods and beverages, large communal spaces, Palapa on the third floor perfect for group meditations and activities, 10 mins walk from a fantastic beach, but far enough away from the main tourist areas that you feel you are deep within the local community.

The opportunities available to improve your health and wellness are many and varied from; fresh organic juices, FIR sauna, salt water flush, enemas, breath-work sessions, singing bowl sessions, a variety of massages, daily meditations, daily yoga, what more could you ask for to enable you to cleanse and rejuvenate. The hardest part is deciding what you are going to do each day as there is always so much happening.

The current sanctuary team are from a variety of cultures and backgrounds which makes for interesting conversations and relationships. Some of the team have been here for a few months and some only a few days. We are still finding our feet back we look forward to the experiences that await us.

Will keep you posted
